National
Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) Conducts
and supports laboratory, clinical and epidemiological research on the reproductive,
neurobiologic, developmental, and behavioral processes that determine and
maintain the health of children, adults, families and populations. The
following are programs within the NICHD's Center for Population Research that
also provide funding for researchers:
National
Institutes of Health Conducts and supports basic, applied, and clinical
and health services research to understand the processes underlying human
health and to acquire new knowledge to help prevent, diagnose, and treat

Institute on Aging Support and conduct high quality research on:
aging processes, age-related diseases and special problems and needs of the

Science Foundation (NSF) The National Science Foundation makes grants
and awards for social, behavioral, and economic research that builds fundamental
knowledge of human behavior, interaction, and social and economic systems,
organizations and institutions. Most of this research is supported through
the following programs:
- Division
of Social and Economic Sciences (SES) Supports research to develop and
advance scientific knowledge focusing on economic, legal, political and
social systems, organizations and institutions.
- Division
of Behavioral and Cognitive Sciences (BCS) Supports research
to develop and advance scientific knowledge focusing on human cognition,
language, social behavior and culture, as well as research on the interactions
between human societies and the physical environment.Centers
for Disease Control CDC serves as the national focus for developing
and applying disease prevention and control, environmental health, and health
promotion and education activities designed to improve the health of the
people of the United States.
Russell
Sage Foundation The Russell Sage Foundation is the principal American
foundation devoted exclusively to research in the social sciences. The Foundation
is dedicated to strengthening the methods, data, and theoretical core of the
social sciences as a means of improving social policies.
Andrew
W. Mellon Foundation Population Program Program areas include, reproductive
biology, social science research on population issues relevant to developing
countries, population policy analysis, university-based applied research and
training programs in the field of forced migration, applied research on selected
topics related to forced migration.
